Tampa is a city with history

Long before Tampa Bay was a tourist destination, it was home to native Tocobaga, Calusa, Seminole and Miccosukee Indians. You can see a unique collection of tribal artifacts at the Tampa Bay History Center.

The heart of Tampa Bay’s Cuban history is Ybor City. Here, some of the world’s best cigars are handrolled, as it has been since the community was founded in 1885. The neighborhood’s brick streets and iron balconies are signs of the back in the days when Tampa Bay got its nickname “Cigar City.” Make a stop at one of the shops along 7th Avenue (La Séptima), to see cigar rolling “live”. Enjoy an authentic Cuban meal at Columbia Restaurant, the oldest restaurant in Florida. Ybor also offers a fantastic nightlife.

Dining, nightlife and shopping in Tampa

The pedestrian-only Tampa Riverwalk connects downtown hotels, restaurants, parks and shops. Here you can enjoy a drink at a bar by the water, and then a sightseeing tour into the bay. Nearby there is plenty to see and do in the Channel District, i.a. Sparkman Wharf’s outdoor dining hall and Amalie Arena, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. The Hyde Park neighborhood features cocktail bars, elegant Spas and fine shopping. If you’re into partying, then Ciro’s Tampa and Edge Rooftop Bar are recommended, offering drinks, music and dancing. Hipster Paradise Seminole Heights is known for its alternative atmosphere. Enjoy specially brewed beer at Angry Chair Brewing, indie bands in the Independent Bar and great food at Ella’s Americana Folk Art Café.

Enjoy Tampa!
